Welcome back from Spring Break! Spring in Calgary is full of surprises—like more snow! We’re excited to explore the changes around us as the snow melts and new plants begin to grow. For now, we’re enjoying stories and pictures as we say, “Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring!”
After discussing the changes that come with spring, we began
transforming our “Winter Corner” into a “Spring Corner,” adding green grass,
tree buds, and insects and animals that are important pollinators.
Abracadabra, It’s Spring! – If only we could magically bring
Spring to Calgary. We enjoyed this beautiful story and drew our favorite Spring
scenes from the story in our visual journals.
We learned how spring brings the Earth to life and explored the water cycle through a story about Little Raindrop. Mrs. Wiskar demonstrated how water turns into steam and then condenses back into rain. We also brought in Thursday’s snow, made predictions about how much water it would produce when melted, and observed the results. Mrs. Cheng and Miss Brittany joined in to guide students as they watched both the mini water cycle and the melting snow. Ask your child what they remember about the water cycle!
We’ve been working hard to learn new “Lively Letters” sounds. You can view our lesson videos on Google Classroom. Please check your child’s account, click on “Classwork,” and practice together. We already know over 15 sounds and we're using the “Tap and Sweep” method to blend them!
