We believe peace starts with us and learned a fun song, "I've Got Peace in My Fingers." You can listen to it using this link:
We created a beautiful field of poppies inspired by
Indigenous art with Lance Cardinal; we used balloons dipped in acrylic paint to start our collaborative work and finished it off with sharpies and paint sticks.
We read a favourite story by Todd Parr' called "The
Peace Book”. Then we drew pictures of what “peace means to me.”
We traced our hands and cut them out to make a poppy to create
a special wreath for the Thursday Remembrance Day assembly. We honored veterans and
listened to lovely music about peace. Thank you to the big kids and teachers for sharing such important songs, photographs and poetry
with our school. Ask your child about their favorite part of the ceremony!
Here are a few more peace books we used to guide our
discussion this week.
