Spring Fun Continues...Bees, Ducks, and Outdoor Games!

Kindergarten students learned more about bees this week and why they are so important to us and our environment. We watched videos and read books about how bees make honey and how and where they live.

The public library has many picture books about bees. Choose one with your child and find out more about these amazing insects. Consider keeping a small pot of blossoms in your backyard to give bees a place to gather nectar, pollinate plants, and do what we love best - make HONEY!!

We showed the story of making honey using pictures and putting them in sequence. We asked ourselves questions: What happens first? What comes next? Finally, the honey is in a jar for us to enjoy!

We also examined more about how and where honey bees live. Talk with your child about what they learned about the hexagon shapes within the bee hive. We discussed 2D and 3D shapes.  Ask them to describe how they made their own cell for our Kindie Bee Hive!

How Do Bees Talk to Each Other?
They do the waggle dance!!
We had fun outdoors pretending to be bees gathering nectar from the flowers and taking it back to the hive in a relay race. We did the waggle dance to let the next person know where to find the flowers.

Now it's time for all the busy bees to make some honey!!
