Sugar, Spice, and Gingerbread Nice

December is full of fun with our Gingerbread theme!

We started the week by discovering winter animals! We learned about animals that travel to warmer places, hibernate during the cold months, or stay active in the snow.

Next, we watched a fun animated video called Hey Deer! about a deer who keeps his home tidy and clears the snow with his shovel. But why does his house shake every night and leave a mess? Ask your child about the surprise ending or watch the video together!

Next, we did a directed drawing of a reindeer!

We also began exploring many Gingerbread stories. Do you remember the famous line: "Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!" The children drew pictures of their favorite parts in their journals.

We read about the Gingerbread Girl and made guesses about how her story would end, with her special line: "I’ll run and I’ll jump, with a leap and a twirl. You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Girl!"

Then, it was time for a fun challenge! The Gingerbread Boy wants to cross the water, but how will he do it? The students used STEM activities to design bridges that could help him cross safely. They thought of ideas, built their bridges, tested them, and made them better. Check out their fantastic creations below!
