HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
The students were very excited to share their adventures
they had over their winter break. This week we officially said Good-bye Autumn
and Hello Winter!
Winter signs are here: falling leaves, animals gathering, and frost on windows. Our story shows a brother and sister exploring nature’s seasonal changes, saying goodbye to autumn and greeting winter’s first snow.
The Biggest Snowman Ever showed how 2 mice working together could
build a giant snowman and win the town contest. Then we practiced sequencing steps to make a snowman.
A snowflake and a child—no two are alike. Each has unique qualities. We explored the water cycle and how snowflakes form through the book Little Snowflake. Ask your child what important shape is at the center of a snowflake that allows crystals to form, and how many sides it has (hint: a hexagon with 6 sides!). Students then created their own beautiful snowflake designs—see our samples below!
In the book "The Snowy Day," we followed Peter’s
snowy adventures – sliding down hills, throwing snowballs, and making tracks in
the snow. read how Peter got to experience a wonderful day after a large
snowfall. Students chose their favorite part to draw in their journals. Ask
your child about their favorite snow day moment!
