What do roly-poly bugs and robot cars have in common? Keep reading!
This week, students enjoyed two new learning experiences. While the Busy Beavers learned about bugs, the Mighty Moose explored pathways using Sphero Indi robot cars as a screenless introduction to coding. The classes then switched activities on Tuesday so everyone could try both experiences.
Our guest presenter, Lady Buggy, guided us through hands-on
learning about bugs—how they move and where they live. Students followed the
pathways of roly-poly bugs and created exciting bug trail art!

Learning Highlights:

The students have been learning fascinating facts about
honeybees, including their life cycle. They now understand that there are three
types of honeybees: the queen, drones, and worker bees. Ask your child to sing
our Insect Song: "Head, thorax, abdomen, eyes and mouth, antennae two,
six legs—and that’s an insect for you!"
We also explored how and where honeybees live. Talk with your child about what they learned regarding the hexagon shapes found in a beehive. We discussed both 2D and 3D shapes and how they are used in nature. Ask your child to describe how they created their own honeycomb cell for our Kindie Bee Hive!
We continued developing our self-portrait drawings with a This is ME in April.
