What a lovely week enjoying nature and a walk to the nearby pond in Hidden Valley. We looked closely at our surroundings and new growth. We completed a scavenger hunt using 4 of our senses to see, hear, touch, and smell the beauty of the outdoors. Thank you to all our parent volunteers who joined us on Monday!
Mrs. Kruger, our school librarian made a special visit to our classroom on Tuesday morning thanking us for returning all our library books. She shared a delightful story called, "This is Not my Hat." We found out that our school library has over 14,000 books and that Mrs. Kruger and her parent volunteers count each one before summer break! Thank you for returning the books. We look forward to checking out more of the many books next year in grade 1!
On Tuesday we also read The Listening Walk to hear the many sounds in our community and parks. We shared what we enjoyed about our Monday pond walk and drew a picture in our visual journal of our special memories.

Summer Solstice is coming June 21. "It's the day when the sun stands still." Students learned that this is the longest day of daylight in the northern hemisphere and it also officially invites the change of season from Spring to Summer!
Shh...we are making a surprise art work reflecting on our beautiful sun and the season of summer solstice for a special family members in our lives...dads, grandpas, uncles, care givers. Todd Parr is one of our favourite authors. We read one of his lovely books about families.
