What an exciting week in Kindergarten! We welcomed five
adorable ducklings to our classroom: Sunny, Huevos, Bacon, Toast, and
Benedict (Benny)!
Although the eggs in our classroom did not hatch, Mrs. Sutherland arranged for Farmer McClucken to bring us some ducklings from the farm. We were so happy to meet them!
This week, we watched our ducklings swim and learned about
their special webbed feet, which help them paddle through the water. We
also discovered that ducks preen their feathers by spreading a special
oil that helps keep them dry when they swim.
Did you know? Ducks are omnivores, which means
they eat both plants and bugs! We celebrated our learning by creating a science
page in our journals to show all the interesting things that ducks eat!
We read a fun story about a Bear and Duck. Bear grows tired of being a bear and decides to become a duck. Duck teaches him, but Bear discovers he makes a better bear than a duck.
The two of them end up as really good friends.
