December is full of fun with our Gingerbread theme!
We kicked off the week by learning about winter animals. We
read about which animals migrate, hibernate, or stay put during the snowy
season.
Then, we watched the short animated film Hey Deer! about a deer who keeps his home clean and shovels snow. But why does his house shake every night and leave a mess to clean up? Ask your child about the
surprise ending, or watch it together!
Next, we did a directed drawing of a reindeer!
We read about the Gingerbread Girl and predicted how her
story would end with her famous line, "I'll run and I'll run, with a leap
and a twirl. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Girl!"
"Run! Run! Run! Catch me if you can! You can't catch me! I'm the Gingerbread Boy, I am! I am!" How will the Gingerbread Boy get across the water? To find out, students used STEM activities to design bridges to help him cross safely. They brainstormed, built, tested, and improved their designs. Check out their amazing work below!
Library Day is Monday, December 9!
Thank you for helping your child to remember their library book AND plastic protector BAG each Monday!!
