We're Better Together - A Community is a place where we live, work, and play! This week we explored the many places we connect with our family, friends, and neighbors.  We drew pictures of places with have fun like the swimming pool, ice rink, playground.  We also talked about the importance of helping each other and who are our community helpers.  Parks and gardens are wonderful ways to connect, too!

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" Students answered: "a singer", "a Pokemon Trainer", "my dad"...We also asked, "Who helps us in the community?"  We loved that our kindies said, "the grade 5 and 6 students who volunteer every day in our classrooms".  

We read stories and played a "Who am I game?" to help us learn more about the helpers in our community like firefighters, vets, barbers, librarians, grocery clerks, even an astronaut!  Ask your child what they might want to be when they grow up.

How do parks connect us in the community?  What can one community do to make a difference?  We explored this theme using these stories.  Simons Valley Community is a great place to be.  Check out our interactive maps below!

After we added natural elements to our community, we shrunk the pictures we drew. 

Look close!! We  now have small people in our community!

Many families in our community are observing Ramadan...one of our students wanted to share a special lantern she made during this special time for her family! We all love learning from each other!

Classes continued to learn Floor Hockey with Mr. Collins. We have a great time in the gym!

Mark your calendars! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming!

Our school’s Scholastic Book Fair will take place next week. AM classes will go on Monday March 17th and PM classes will go Thursday afternoon.

If your child will be purchasing from the book fair, please ensure to email your child's teacher!

Cash and Cards accepted. Please place cash in a Ziploc bag with the student’s name on it.

 There will not be a Virtual option this year.

Your investment in your reader helps our whole school. All purchases earn Scholastic Dollars that can be redeemed for books and educational resources for our school’s classrooms and library.
