Welcome to Kindergarten!

 Hello and Welcome to our blog! 

We are excited to get to know you this year and share many exciting learning opportunities. We wanted to take a moment to tell you a bit about us and look forward to learning more about your child too! Your child will have a lead teacher soon- we had some technically difficulties on Friday and haven't been able to send out our class emails! Thank you for your patience!

The past two weeks we have been getting to know the children and settling into our classroom routines. We have been reading lots of books about characters starting school and how to make new friends. Check out some of the important "must-do" jobs we have started!

Kissing Hand

We also read the kissing hand. We learned that Chester the raccoon was worried to come to school (like some of us!) We know that our family's love is always with us, even when we are apart! We talked again about being a kindergarten family and that we care for everyone in our class!

Mat Man

We introduced Mat Man. We learned a song about Mat Man and read a story with him in it. Mat Man helps us to draw ourselves and others! This is an important learning tool so we can learn how to draw all of the elements of the body (two eyes, two ears, one head etc.) 

Self Portraits

After meeting Mat Man, we worked on drawing a whole body self portrait. Our work had to include all of the elements that Mat Man taught us and also some of the things that make us unique. 

On Friday we read "That's Good! That's Bad!" 

We read an awesome book by Margery Cuyler.  We then glued a red balloon on a paper and drew a lovely place that the balloon visited. The balloons went to see nature, outer space, a diamond mine, a playground, and even an amusement park.

Quick Reminders:

Our snack time is short- we usually have about 5-10 minutes to eat. Please send 1 healthy snack (no candy or chocolate); water only (no juice, milk or yogurt drinks). 

Also- NO NUTS, peanut butter, Nutella or other nut products please- thank you!

 

Please leave an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack

for your child in the event of an accident or snack spill- Thank you!
