Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn- This is Me in October
Students created an October self-portrait using the skills they learned about drawing Mat Man in September. Students were encouraged to add more details including, eye colour, the designs and colours of the clothes they were wearing that day, and the style of their hair: ponytails, braids, short hair, spiky hair, curls, and more!
Fletcher the fox was worried there was something wrong with his favorite tree. Why was it losing its leaves? Fletcher finds out something special about the tree and the change of the seasons. Ask your child what was their favorite part of the story Fletcher and the Falling Leaves.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Name Trees
Students had a must-do this week that used ALL the skills they've been learning since September. After reading a story about the alphabet letters climbing a coconut tree, the students added fall leaves to a Canadian-style tree with the letters of their name on them. They had to colour the tree, count the number of letters in their name, print a letter on each leaf, cut out the leaves, arrange them in the order of the letters in their name, and glue them securely to their tree picture! Well done! And...students were very excited to remind their teachers that they had "no chicken wings" while they used their scissors. Not sure what that means? Ask your child to tell you about 6 star cutting!

There is no school on Friday, October 20th for students for a teacher Professional Day. Teachers will be in team meetings and presentations at the school.
*******Please NOTE!!! There has been a change in our next Parent/Teacher Dates. It has been changed to assist parents in being able to volunteer for our school's Casino Fundraiser!! Our new dates will be December 7, 8 Note: TimesTBD****
Please consider volunteering for the casino fundraiser Nov. 23, 24! It is a huge event that brings in money to our school for a variety of materials and experiences we would not ordinarily receive. No volunteer clearance is required!
