We are Authors and Story Tellers! Stories have beginnings, middles, and ends with characters living inside places. Students are learning about the Power of Writing. ** I can talk about and represent actions of characters in books.
** I can draw, record, or tell about my ideas.
** I can tell how I feel about a story.
We began our week with the story Have you Seen My Dragon? It was our inspiration to create a collaborative classroom counting book about our Kindie-Town. Students drew pictures of places in our community using black and white backgrounds. They selected one item that could be found in that place and drew a corresponding number of the item on their page. They chose one color to highlight the item being counted on the page. We are excited to share their class book with you at Student-led conferences later this month!
In a Squiggly story, a young boy discovers he can write an amazing story with the power of his imagination, pictures, and marks on a page. We were excited to write our own stories - with or without words!
Prepping for exciting art next week!
We will be starting some bright, Spring art next week...and we have been doing some painting to prepare! We are excited to see how it goes...
