Although this week was a short one with the return after fall break, we packed in lots of fun learning! Over the weekend many families and community members celebrated Diwali- the Festival of Light. We were excited to hear about important family traditions and lean more about this colourful celebration that celebrates the power of light and new beginnings. Kindergarten students were invited to listen to Indian music and learn about special lamps called Diya's that are used as part of this important cultural celebration.
We studied an art form known as Rangoli that is often created on the floor using sand to promote good luck; although we did not use sand, each Kindergarten student had an opportunity to create their own Rangoli art piece with loose parts. We used a circular base shape and talked about the patterns and symmetry often found in this colourful artwork.
As we move closer to winter, we want to continue exploring all the ways we keep ourselves healthy...we will be exploring ways we can help our bodies, brains, teeth and even recognize our feelings! Stay tuned for lots of good information from your kiddo!

In late October, you should have received google log-in information for your child via email. We asked that every family help their child log in and contact us with any difficulties. If you have already logged in, thank you!
At the moment only 37 of 90 Kindergarten kiddos have logged into Google Classroom.
We post weekly plans on google classroom as well as helpful links and valuable information. As your child moves to Grade 1 they will be using google classroom weekly and getting used to checking it now is a Kindergarten expectation. If you are planning a vacation or your child will miss consecutive days of school, our google classroom provides helpful information about supporting your child.
If you have not done so, please log in using the information provided via email in late October.

It has been changed to assist parents in being able to volunteer for our school's Casino Fundraiser!! Our new dates will be December 7, 8 and more info came out via email this week****
Please consider volunteering for the casino fundraiser Nov. 23, 24! It is a huge event that brings in money to our school for a variety of materials and experiences we would not ordinarily receive. No volunteer clearance is required!
