Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice...December fun is always better with a Gingerbread Theme! 

We began our week watching Hey Deer! Short Animated Film about an adorable, cocoa-drinking deer who cleans his home and shovels the snow in front of his house every day. Why does his house shake every night and leave a mess to clean up?  Ask your child about the surprise ending. Or better - watch the video together!

Then we completed a directed drawing of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

Gingerbread Stories...How many can you remember? How about the famous saying: "Run, Run, as fast as you can...you can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man!" Students completed a story response drawing in their visual journals to retell their favorite part of the story.

Who said this famous saying: "I'll run and I'll run, with a leap and a twirl. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Girl!"  Students practiced predicting what happens next? How will this story end?

"Run! Run! Run! Catch me if you can! You can't catch me! I'm the Gingerbread Boy, I am! I am!"  How will the Gingerbread Boy get across the water?  Students used a version of the science method called STEM and building materials to design a bridge for the Gingerbread Boy to safely cross the water. What is the problem? Brainstorm some solutions. Try out your ideas. Go back and make changes. Try it again...Check out our hard work below!

 

SAFETY REMINDERS...nuts and traffic, traffic and nuts...

- The drop and go area in front of the school is ONLY ONE LANE, next to the sidewalk. You cannot stop your car or let children out beside already parked vehicles on Sandarac Drive...

- Please do not cut across the staff parking lot at any time- use the sidewalks!

- We have children in our classes with allergies to nuts and nut products. 

***Nutella and many "chocolate" based snacks

are made from HAZELNUTS...they are NOT ALLOWED at school***
