April 22-26, 2024

Imagination Writing and Scientific Observation both require the ability to think creatively and make connections between different elements. This week our kindies had the opportunity to do both!  Check out our Imagination stories, the water cycle, spring changes for insects, animals, and important pollinators - bees!!

We continued our imagination writing on Monday using our imagination pockets planning sheets from last week. We came up with some awesome stories from our imagination. Here are a few of our samples! All of us are understanding that words have meaning and if we are not connecting letters to our ideas yet, we are certainly understanding we can represent written words with squiggles! Well done kindies!

"Flying toothpaste on a toothbrush."
"I'm going to the moon."
"A unicorn is in my backyard eating fruit."
"Spiderman jumping to a spider castle."

More about spring and how the Earth is renewed each Spring with water helping the plants and flowers to grow. Little Raindrop takes us on journey of a raindrop from cloud, to puddles and lakes, to the dirt and thirsty plants, then warming up in the sun to float to the sky as a mist called evaporation. We were excited to have Mrs. Azzopardi join us as a guest teacher this week. She explained the water cycle to us. We learned that a cycle happens over and over again. Ask your child what they remember!

. Mrs. Wiskar did a class demonstration using hot water inside a glass container to show how water changes from a liquid, to steam, to water bubbles, and returns as liquid rain drops.

After discussing all the changes that are starting to happen in Spring, we got to work changing over the "Winter Corner" to be a "Spring Corner". Our work is ongoing as we notice more Spring changes, but we've started with adding some green grass to the landscape, some buds on the trees and some insects, animals and important pollinators that we know are important in Spring!

See our spring corner with all of our new animals!!

We are sooo excited that we have started our inquiry into BEES! Some students have mentioned that they are scared of bees (and being stung.) Hopefully after we learn about these awesome creatures, they won't be quite as afraid!
Before we started our learning, we had some great questions about bees!

We then read a story to introduce us to bees and then did a guided drawing of a bee! We've ALREADY learned that bees have 6 legs and 3 parts on their body- a head, thorax and abdomen. We noticed that bees have an AB pattern with black and yellow! We can't wait to learn more!

Kindies are going Swimming!!

Our lessons are the week of May 13-16th, 2024.
**Homework practice**
Have your child take a bath in their bathing suit.
After they get out of the tub, have them remove their bathing suit, towel dry, and dress in their regular clothes. Show your child how to roll up their bathing suit in their towel and put it in a plastic or reusable bag. It is too wet to go in a backpack.
Note: There is only 10 minutes between the end of the swim lesson to get changed and to get on the school bus. Thanks for your help!

The $35 swim fee includes the cost of the pool swim instructors and the school bus transportation.  Please pay online in your MyCBE PowerSchool Account OR you can send a cash payment in an envelope to the office. The office will issue you a receipt.
Thank you in advance for paying in a timely manner.
